The Visual Art Society of B-CS has been involved with Brazos Valley Gives for the last 4 years. You can visit our page at www.brazosvalleygives.org/Visual_Art_Society On the page we have an additional fundraiser page for the Aggieland Art Trail. All proceeds go toward all our community projects, including scholarships for art students. All donors giving at least $20 will be listed on our Sponsor webpage and on our Aggieland Art Trail brochure. Early giving starts TODAY, Sept 18. The actual 18 hour day of giving is Tuesday, October 17, 2023 5am – 11pm. It is a wonderful event for the community.
Brazos Valley Gives, an initiative of the Community Foundation of the Brazos Valley, is a month-long community giving effort that culminates in 18 hours of online giving on the 3rd Tuesday of October. Giving together as one community to raise money and awareness for local nonprofits in 7 Brazos Valley counties can do a great deal.
Brazos Valley Gives is a community day of giving that strengthens nonprofits, empowers donors, and builds community. The goal for 2023 Brazos Valley Gives is $1,250,000 with 165 participating nonprofit organizations. During 2022, donors rallied to raise $1,176,760 and donated 9,677 volunteer hours to support the good works of 161 nonprofit organizations. Since 2019, the Community Foundation’s Brazos Valley Gives Day has raised $3,268,788 for participating nonprofits in the 7-county region of the Brazos Valley.
This annual day of “giving where you live” is powered by the Community Foundation of the Brazos Valley, and all donations pass-thru directly to the donor’s charity or charities of choice.

This 2-Day Acrylic Workshop by Houston artist, Christie Coker, encourages experimentation as you explore the creation of a landscape by layering paint on a textured surface. Whether the result is Realism or Abstraction, let nature be your muse and texture be your guide.

Everyone is invited to attend the reception for our 2023 Member Show “Aqua Vita” Reception, this coming Friday Sept 1 6-8pm at Degallery, 930 N Rosemary Dr, Bryan, TX 77802. We have 22 members showcasing 68 of their more recent art – including oil, acrylic, watercolor, pastel, mixed media, paper, photography, glass and fiber art. Paint Out Bryan @ the Downtown Bryan Street & Art Fair
Paint Out Bryan 2024 hosted by VAS, in conjunction with the Downtown Bryan Street and Art Fair and Destination Bryan, is an event open to all artists who wish to paint or draw the scenes of historic downtown Bryan in the lively atmosphere of the Art Fair! This two-day event celebrates the beauty of plein air painting and brings together artists, business and the community in a vibrant cultural experience. The event will kick off on Friday April 12 with artists painting in the downtown area followed by a kick-off party Friday evening for artists and art lovers and live painting again at the fair on Saturday. VAS will assist with sales of the artist’s work in their tent Saturday. Judging and prizes will be awarded from 5 to 5:30pm.
Friday April 12 (all day) Artists may paint in the historic downtown Bryan area as they wish. We hope to have an information table set up.
Friday April 12 (5:30pm-8pm) Kick-off Party for artists, guests, sponsors, and community members at the Frame Gallery Downtown. A special demonstration will be presented by Benjamin Knox, famous Aggie artist on Friday @5:30pm.
Saturday April 13 (9am-4:30pm – with judging at 5pm; selling until 6pm)
- In the style of plein air, bring your own art supplies, easels, chair:s, etc. and enjoy the Art Fair while painting the scenes of downtown Bryan! There will be goodie bags for artists and plenty of water!
- It is a FREE event for registered artists. Deadline to signup is extended to April 10, 2024.
- Participating artists are encouraged to bring 2 paintings plus prints (in a basket/box) from home for sale in our tent.
- The Visual Art Society B/CS will charge a 20% commission for handling sales and sales tax.
- We have cash prizes for registered artist participants for art created at the event on 4/12 and 4/13.
- Best in Show $300
- First Runner up Best in Show $200
- Best Street Scene $100
- Best Still life $100
- People’s Choice $100.
- Participants should bring their art to the judging stage on their easels at 5pm.

The Call for Art has opened for our annual member show, “Aqua Vita.” Deadline is now August 25. The general theme this year is water: its physical forms and its symbolism. The show runs from September 1 – October 3, 2023. If you are not a current member, you may join or renew online. Student members get 50% off their submission fees. Check HERE for more information.
At our June 12 meeting 6-7pm (doors open at 5:30pm for Meet and Greet), our new slate of board members will be introduced and installed. The main topic will be organizing the 2023-24 year while enjoying an ice-cream social. The upcoming year will be exciting with so many new ideas! See June 12 meeting for more details. The First Annual Downtown Bryan Street & Art Fair Paint Out, sponsored by the Visual Art Society of Bryan-College Station and Destination Bryan, is a 1-day event open to all artists who wish to paint or draw the scenes of historic downtown Bryan in the lively atmosphere of the Art Fair!
Saturday April 15, 10am to 4pm
In the style of Plein Air, bring your own art supplies, easels, chairs, etc. and enjoy the Art Fair while painting the scenes of downtown Bryan! Participating artists will have an opportunity to sell your artwork, the Visual Art Society B/CS will charge a 20% sales commission. There is no entry fee, but you will need to register by April 10.
